PHP Programming in Examples and Exercises
Alexey Vasiliev
- Programming
- PHP
A PHP textbook from syntax basics to object-oriented programming. Each topic is covered with code examples and explanations, with exercises for self-testing at the end of the chapters.
Key ideas
- PHP forgives a lot, so you have to keep discipline in types and checks yourself.
- An array in PHP is a universal structure: a list, a dictionary and a stack in one.
- Classes, interfaces and namespaces make a large codebase manageable.
- An example followed right away by an exercise is the best way to cement syntax.
How I apply it
My WordPress projects run on PHP. My main language now is Python, and the book helps me quickly get back to PHP when supporting and improving older sites.

Server Applications in Python, Django, Flask and FastAPI
R. S. Bukharev
The path of server-side development in Python, from sockets and protocols to architecture and launch on a server. Separate chapters cover caching and scaling, Docker and Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and MongoDB, and security: password hashing, JWT and OAuth 2.0, protection against SQL injection, XSS and CSRF, TLS.
